FAQs for Sod Installation
How long does sod installation take?
In general, installing new sod can take anywhere from just a few hours to a couple of days. The amount of time it will take will depend on the size of the area and how much soil preparation needs to go into preparing the area for installation.
When is the best time to install sod?
The most ideal time to install sod is spring and early fall. This is because temperatures during these seasons are mild, and there is rainfall that supports root establishment. While you can install a new lawn during the summer, you will need to water your lawn much more frequently since you will lose quite a bit of moisture through evaporation. The summer heat may also be too intense in the early stages of lawn establishment.
How soon after installation can I walk on my new lawn?
Generally, we recommend waiting 2 to 3 weeks to walk on your lawn following installation. This will give your lawn time to establish its roots. However, some light foot traffic during the first week or two is fine.
How frequently should I water my new lawn?
Within the first two weeks, newly installed sod so should be watered daily. This will allow the soil to remain moist and promote good root establishment and grass growth. After a month, reduce the watering to every other day or a couple of times a week.
How should l maintain sod lawn?
Growing a healthy lawn requires good maintenance. In the beginning, you’ll need to water your sod lawn frequently. Over time, you can reduce the amount of watering. Mowing is another task you’ll need to do. When doing so, make sure that the blade is sharp as using a dull blade will damage the sod grass. Finally, be sure to apply fertilizers according to schedule, and use herbicides to remove weeds. With the proper care, your lawn will thrive.
Do I need to be home when you install my new sod?
No, we understand how busy life can be. All we need is access to your yard and confirmation that you have approved the quote. Our team of sod installers can complete the installation even if you are not home.
What does soil preparation involve?
This is one of the most important steps to ensure that your sod has the best chance of thriving. During soil preparation, we remove any weeds or rocks. We also loosen the soil, level the surface, and add topsoil and fertilizer.
When should I first mow my lawn after installation?
This should be done about two weeks after your install sod in your yard. It’s important to wait until the sod grass has had an opportunity to begin establishing its root system. Mowing too soon can interfere with the sod taking root.
What type of sod do you use?
We install premium, freshly harvested sod from our farm, guaranteeing you high-quality sod that will thrive when cared for well.
No matter its current state, we can help you achieve the lawn of you dreams.
